Bates Street Block Party Set for August 12

The Community House will host the Bates Street Block Party, 12 to 5 p.m. Saturday, August 12. The outdoor event, formerly known as Farm to Table Food Fest, will take place on the streets surrounding The Community House located at 380 South Bates Street, Birmingham.

Michigan vendors will sample and sell the best of Michigan cheeses, meats, baked goods, jams and other edible products while local restaurants, breweries, wineries, and distilleries will be on hand to conduct tastings. Attendees will also enjoy live entertainment, music, and family friendly children’s activities.

“We are offering our annual Bates Street Block Party one month earlier this year to take advantage of our beautiful summer weather! The Block Party will shine the spotlight on our vibrant local restaurants and our unique Michigan food and beverage vendors.  Whole Foods Market will be conducting a ‘Make Your Own Trail Mix’ station for kids, and we’ll have live music and face painting as well. It’s really an event that the entire family can enjoy!” said Lori Rondello, Special Events Director for The Community House.

The Bates Street Block Party will be held rain or shine. Advance tickets are $25 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under and include unlimited station tastings and three drink sampler tickets. Tickets at the door are $30 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Children under 3 get in for free. Proceeds from the event will support The Community House children’s and adult’s programs and services.

Sponsors for the Bates Street Block Party include Bank of Ann Arbor-Birmingham, the Birmingham Shopping District, HOUR Magazine, WJR News/Talk AM and Downtown Publications.
