Voting Begins Soon during Birmingham Construction Art Contest

BIRMINGHAM, MI, May 7, 2018 – Throughout the construction area in downtown Birmingham, local artists are busy painting and enhancing the barricade panels. Art students, enthusiasts, professionals and even BSD businesses have joined in to enhance the barricades and add something special for those walking throughout town. Beginning Saturday, May 12, the community is encouraged to vote for their favorite panel at bit.ly/2018bhamart.

“We have worked hard to offer shopper incentives that encourage the community’s support of Birmingham businesses during construction,” said Ingrid Tighe, Executive Director of the Birmingham Shopping District. “We have many talented artists who participated in this contest. We’re hoping people will visit downtown Birmingham not only to shop and eat, but also to walk through the downtown area and enjoy the beautiful artwork on display.”

Winning artwork will be displayed in downtown Birmingham at the completion of the construction project. Those who visit Birmingham during the weekend of May 12 and 13 will also enjoy the Guild of Artists & Artisan’s Art Birmingham event in Shain Park. Cast your Construction Art Contest vote at bit.ly/2018bhamart and then head to Shain Park to peruse juried artists with paintings, ceramics, photography, jewelry, glass, wood, sculpture, mixed media, fiber, metal and more.
