The Stand Restaurant Stands Behind Area Police With Event for Fallen Officer’s Family

(Birmingham, Michigan-October 21,2015)- John Kelly and Paul Grosz of Birmingham’s
The Stand restaurant are standing behind local law enforcement with back to back
events to raise money for the family of an area police officer killed in the line of duty.
On Nov 20 and 21st, The Stand will host two evenings of fun, fine cuisine and craft
drinks with portions of the proceeds going to the widow and four children of fallen
police officer, Sgt. Patrick O’Rourke of the West Bloomfield Police Department, who
was killed while responding to a domestic call in September 2012.

Recognizing the tremendous sacrifices made every day by local men and women in
blue, Kelly and Grosz wanted to give something back. Says Kelly, “From our
standpoint, The Stand has always been about more than just a wonderful culinary
experience, it’s about being part of something bigger. Our mission is to serve not only
as a welcoming gathering place, but also to be a passionate source of support for the
people and things that make our community so special.”

On Friday, November 20th,The Stand will host “Back The Blue Night” from 6pm. to
10pm. The event will feature live music and local radio and TV personalities will man
the bar, slinging specialty drinks like “The True Blue” cocktail. A chili contest will also
give diners a chance to sample recipes from some of the most recognized names in
the Detroit restaurant community. Customers will do a tasting and then “vote” on
their favorite by putting money in their chef’s tip jar. All tips that night, along with a
portion of the receipts go to the O’Rourke family.

Then, on Saturday evening, beginning at 6pm,The Stand will again ask guests to fork
it over for a fundraising “Stand with the Badge Dinner.” The gourmet, four course
seasonal menu, will include, butternut squash soup, chop-chop salad, mixed grill beef short ribs/halibut and bread pudding with pumpkin ice cream for dessert.

There will also be a silent and bag wine auction.
Tickets are $80.00 per person without alcohol or $100.00 per person with a wine
pairing and can be purchased in advance by emailing:  jfk@thestand.com or by
