Central Michigan University marketing and logistics student Austin Jennings has joined the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce as its 2017 communications summer intern.
Jennings has been working with the Chamber for nearly a month now gaining hands-on experience where he has learned about social media engagement, copywriting for events and promotions, and networking with fellow Chamber members. In addition, he has been completing other marketing and communications objectives that are assigned to him in the office such as creating press releases, Facebook advertisements, and editing videos for our Chamber Chat video series.
Jennings is a diversely involved student on CMU’s campus. He is currently a member of the American Marketing Association‘s executive board as an AMA Coordinator. He is also involved on campus as a Resident Assistant in Cobb Hall where he helps students transition to living in the on-campus residence halls. He volunteers his time in the Career Services Center as a REACH Advisor where he does resume and cover letter critiques. Jennings has also been selected by his peers as a top 10 candidate to be CMU’s Gold Ambassador for Central Michigan University’s 2018 Homecoming Festivities.
Jennings plans to graduate in May of 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and logistics management. After graduation, Jennings has plans to work in the advertising industry in an advertising agency or in-house at a company in the Metro Detroit or Chicago area.
