BIRMINGHAM BLOOMFIELD CHAMBER’S VINE & DINE EVENT FUNDS 15,000 MEALS FOR GLEANERS COMMUNITY FOODBANK OF SOUTHEASTER MICHIGAN

Birmingham, MI – The Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber’s signature event, Vine & Dine, raised a substantial donation for Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan. 

The Chamber presented its16th Annual Vine & Dine on Sept. 17 at the Double Tree by Hilton in Bloomfield Hills.  The food & wine tasting featured over 20 food and wine vendors, a chef’s challenge, live music, a wine pull and new for 2019 a beer garden.  Funds raised from the event benefit chamber programs and Gleaners. 

On Wednesday, December 11, at the BBChamber Holiday Mixer, Chamber President Joe Bauman presented a check for 15,000 meals to Gleaners Special Events Manager Suzette Hohendorf. 

“We value Gleaners as a wonderful chamber partner and as a cornerstone of our Thriving Michigan initiative,” Bauman said. “Great need remains in our communities despite a solid local economy and Gleaners provides a critical service to those who need it most. We are proud of our sponsors and member businesses for stepping up and helping this amazing organization.”

Gleaners Community Food Bank’s mission has been to turn surplus food, which otherwise would go to waste, into millions of delicious meals for hungry people in southeastern Michigan. For more than 40 years, Gleaners Community Food Bank has grown from distributing just over 500,000 pounds to nearly 41 million pounds annually; rounding to 95,000 meals distributed a day.

The Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber is a membership organization dedicated to promoting the economic development, strengthen the business climate and improve the quality of life in the six communities it serves, Beverly Hills, Bingham Farms, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township and Franklin.
