Birmingham Chefs to Compete at Birmingham Farmers Market

BIRMINGHAM, MI, June 14, 2018 – On Sunday, June 24 from 10 a.m. to noon, Birmingham’s top chefs will compete live at the Birmingham Farmers Market. Chefs will be challenged with two dishes, one savory and one sweet. They will be judged on interaction with patrons, taste and overall presentation.

Chefs must complete their dishes using mystery ingredients from the market’s vendors. Local celebrities and community leaders will score each dish and announce the 2018 Birmingham Farmers Market Master Chef Champion.

Toast Chef Chris Gadulka at the Chef Clash, Birmingham, MI Farmer’s Market, June 25, 2017.

Chef Chris Gadulka from Toast received the title of Master Chef for the past two years. This year Chef Adam Kraska from Vinotecca and Chef Devon Follbaum from Fleming’s Steakhouse will go head-to-head with Toast and attempt to take the title. Come watch this display of friendly competition at the Birmingham Farmers Market! There will also be samples for shoppers to taste from each chef’s restaurant. A special thank you to the 2018 Birmingham Farmers Market Chef Clash sponsor, Primi Piatti Market.

Other upcoming special events at the market include: the Corn Festival on August 12 (featuring all things corn, with special crafts, games and old-fashioned corn shelling), the Harvest Festival on September 16 (celebrating the bounty of the Michigan harvest with a petting farm) and the End of Season Celebration on October 28 (come in costume and trick-or-treat among the vendors, plus enjoy pumpkin carving demonstrations)

The Birmingham Farmers Market is open every Sunday from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. through October 28 and proudly features exclusively Michigan-grown produce subject to Michigan growing patterns. The market offers a hometown experience that’s fun for all ages, with fresh prepared foods, live music, a children’s craft area and more. Throughout the season more than 70 booths feature a diverse array of locally and regionally grown produce, vegetables, fruits, flowers, garden plants, eggs, honey, jams, fresh meat, poultry, soaps, dog treats, breads, baked goods and hand-crafted items.
