MSGCU Offers More Than $100,000 in Scholarships for Local Students

Through its annual scholarship program, MSGCU has helped hundreds of students like Gary and Megan–paving the path for future educators, doctors, artists, first responders and community leaders. The application period for 2016’s programs begins Monday, Jan. 18 at msgcuscholarships.org. Click to view.

“Education is an incredibly powerful tool and we are pleased to help local students take the next step in their educational futures,” said Pete Gates, MSGCU President/CEO. “For more than a decade, we have been awarding scholarships to students from a variety of backgrounds and we are excited to continue the tradition in 2016.”

The application period runs January 18-March 18 for the following scholarships:

  • Rudolph Heino High School Scholarship: Embodying the credit union “people helping people” philosophy.
  • Larry Swantek Educational Studies Scholarship: Studying to become an educator.
  • Educational Solutions Scholarship: Focusing on the power of education.
  • Educator Advantage Scholarship: Helping educators with continuing education costs.

Winners will be announced Monday, May 2 and honored at a private reception later in the year.

MSGCU also offers First Responder Scholarships, which are applied for through the police or fire academies at Macomb Community College, Oakland Community College and Schoolcraft College.
